Dr. Ockert Van Schalkwyck
Dr. Ockert Van Schalkwyk (also known as 'Dr. Van') is an International Optometrist who has qualified in four countries. He has extensive experience in the field of Eye Care, including over thirty-five years in private practice, locums, and hospitals. He has worked in ophthalmology academic/training hospitals, corporate, and small business environments.
He originally qualified as an Optometrist in South Africa, where he graduated from the University of Johannesburg. In 1993, he studied in London, England, where he became a UK Optometrist with an M.C. Optom. In 1996, he graduated from New England College of Optometry (Boston, MA) with Advanced Studies in Eye Disease.
He then qualified as an Australian Optometrist and practised as a locum Optometrist across Australia. In 2006 wrote the Canadian Optometrists exams at the University of Waterloo, On and qualified as a Canadian Optometrist. Then practised for 2 years in Newfoundland before coming to South Western Ontario.

1994—Rodenstock competition—Best Lens design. Visit the Rodenstock manufacturing plants, plus a tour of Germany.

1989-Hydron Contact Lenses & Allergan Pharmaceutical Competition. Honorary guests at the second International Eastern Contact Lens Conference in Singapore, plus a tour of Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and Mauritius.
