Choose the Right Lenses for Your Glasses

Are you excited to start wearing stylish new frames but confused about prescription lenses? We offer the latest in lens technology to protect your eyes, prevent scratches and help you see clearly. Our knowledgeable team will be happy to help you choose the best lenses for your needs and lifestyle. Visit us at one of our stores today in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario.

Prescription Lenses

When it comes to prescription lenses, we offer top-quality lenses to help improve your vision.

  • Single vision lenses. Single-vision lenses are used by people who need help seeing items at a single distance — either up close (reading glasses) or far away (distance glasses). They have a single prescription power throughout the entire lens. We carry lenses that provide a wider field of vision and better optics than ordinary single-vision lenses.

  • Progressive lenses. Progressives are ideal for people requiring both distance and reading correction. In contrast to bifocal and multifocal lenses, progressive lenses gradually adjust, offering better overall vision and smoother transitions between distance corrections. We carry industry-leading progressive lenses, which provide the widest field of views with little peripheral distortion. Traditional bifocal and trifocal lenses are also available.

Advanced Specific Lenses

Beyond providing vision correction, your new lenses can be formulated to serve specific functional needs.

  • Task-specific lenses. Occupational lenses are tailored to the individual's work environment. These lenses are designed to improve your close and mid-range vision for desk work while allowing you to move around the workplace without changing your glasses.

  • Anti-fatigue lenses. Anti-fatigue glasses reduce eye strain at all visual distances by increasing your vision for handheld devices such as mobile phones and tablets, as well as PCs and laptops.

  • Driving lenses. Driving lenses can be prescription or non-prescription. They have a yellow tint so you can see more clearly at night, and they also have anti-glare capabilities, reducing the glare from the sun and oncoming headlights.

Lens Material Options

Lens materials have come a long way — they’re more durable and lightweight than ever before. Here are some of your options at Solis Optics:

  • Standard Plastic lenses are lightweight and work well with glasses with a lower prescription.

  • High-index lenses provide sharp vision with the thinnest, lightest lens possible up to 50% lighter than standard plastic lenses and with UV protection.

Lens Coatings

For the most comfort and vision acuity, upgrade your lenses with these high-tech coatings and enhancements:

  • Anti-reflective lenses. These lenses improve the appearance and performance of your lenses by allowing more light to pass through them while reducing glare. Ask for our Hi-def coating, which eliminates reflections and glare and repels oil, water and dust for easier cleaning.

  • Scratch-resistant lenses. Our iGuard coating helps protect your lenses from minor micro-scratches caused by normal use of your glasses and helps extend the life of your lenses.

  • Blue light filters. Enjoy reduced eyestrain and improved sleep patterns when wearing these blue UV-light filters while using your digital devices, watching television and engaging in outdoor activities.

Lens Enhancements

  • Transitions™ lenses. These lenses are clear but change colour automatically when exposed to sunlight. They’re excellent filters of harmful UV light and are available in several colours and intensities.

  • Polarized lenses. These lenses block reflections off ice and water, enhancing your visual comfort while spending days at the beach, driving and playing outdoor sports.

  • Tinted lenses. Make a fashion statement with lenses that are slightly tinted in one of a variety of stylish colours. Tinted lenses offer increased UV protection, reduce glare and increase contrast.

We recognize that no two customers are the same, so we give you options when it comes to how you buy your lens coatings. Our Platinum Packages provide more than just a price discount on bundled coatings, but also provide a two-year warranty on product. Get the peace of mind of knowing that you have no worries until it is time to purchase your glasses next time.

Find a Frame to Fit Your Face

When it comes to choosing the right glasses, your face shape is one of the most important factors to consider. Whether you have a round, square, heart-shaped, or oval face, there's a perfect frame out there for you. With our wide selection of frames and knowledgeable staff, we can help you find the perfect fit for your face shape and personal style.
